Our team works with a broad range of businesses. In one way or another, the global pandemic put them all under pressure. Factors of reduced sales, reduced marketing, reduced facetime and much more all combined to challenge businesses as never before.

From our perspective, as a professional services provider, what have we observed? While every business is unique, there have been a few common themes:

Be prepared
It seems obvious, but sadly those that were struggling found themselves in deeper trouble. Simple things such as making sure the balance sheet is set up correctly, having all systems and technology up to date, keeping useful customer lists, and maintaining a positive staff culture all put you in a strong position.

Relationships matter more than ever
It’s not just enough to have good clients. You need to nurture your relationships with your clients, partners and stakeholders.

Look to the long term
Now that the new year and a new wave of optimism have arrived, it’s clear that those who took a long-term view that the pandemic would have a limited lifespan are those that are best placed to reap the rewards.

Here to thrive, not just survive
Building on the long-term view, many of our clients have taken the opportunity to prepare for a post-pandemic world. Rather than taking a more cautious approach of wait and see, some businesses have used government incentives and the opportunity to plan for a new commercial landscape.

At BlueSky, we’re fortunate to partner with proactive businesses, which turned the pandemic’s uncertainties into positives. The fact is, it shouldn’t take a pandemic to push businesses into a position of maintaining better systems and forward-thinking practices. Our eyes should always be on the future.
